Jenesys blinked and two sets of eyes blinked right back. He sighed, both bodies the sets of eyes belonged to sighed as well. He couldn't help but smile as they copied him...it was cute. One of the small bodies chirped happily, the feelings Jenesys was projecting making the flitter puff up in pride, of course he was cute...well, actually Jenesys thought he was gorgeous, his hide resembling the very stone. He'd heard that Lapis were normally females, the dragons anyway, so he wasn't sure how rare or common a male Lapis was, but Lazuli was just that, a male Lapis. His hide was a deep midnight blue and his body covered in gleaming gold speckles, one very large smattering of gold in the center of his chest. Spring on the other hand was apparently a very common sea serpent, her coloring was no less gorgeous. She was grey like all other serpents and had very pale teal stripes up and down her sides.
While Lazuli was basking in the happiness that Jenesys was feeling just by looking at them Spring simply sat and watched them both curiously. It was strange having them. Jenesys had never had pets on Earth but after the crash and recovery the people of the Weyr had thought he and the others in the crash needed a bit of a pick me up. He'd been offered two eggs a week after the crash and...well...here they were. He was actually happier then he would let on...these two kept him away from overworking himself in trying to rebuild something that would likely never come to pass.
"You guys still hungry?" he asked as he offered a bit more meat to Spring. The Teal delicately took the offering before he offered some to Lazuli. The Lapis sniffed the meat before shaking his head and crawled over to climb up his arm and take a perch on his human's shoulder, crooning softly as he nuzzled the man.

With two baby flits to feed, Serenity had found herself spending quite a bit of time in the kitchens. Though Lily was a few weeks older than Thorn was, both firelizards seemed equally ravenous when feeding time came. And feeding time came quite often with her pair. Every few hours they were wanting food. Rather like human babies in that way. Serenity didn't mind much though. Lily and Thorn were precious to her and all the effort was well worth it when she felt them happy.
"Hi" Serenity smiled at Jenesys as she moved to his table, balancing a tray with food for her 'lizards and some food for herself. "Mind if I join you?" She recognized him as one of the other campers, though she couldn't recall having had much to do with him before.

((Do you guys mind if I jump in?))
Amelia had been feeling peckish, so she decided a trip to the kitchens was in order. She was also feeling a bit lonely, truth be told, now that the homesickness was settling in. It was certainly a happy surprise when she entered the dining hall and spied her not-so-baby sister. She was just greeting one of the other Earthborn Candidates, though Amelia coudn't recall his name right off. Judging by the lad's soft expression and the distended bellies of the two creatures resting on him, he had recently bonded to some of the native creatures.
Amelia felt a stab of envy--she seemed to be about the only one of the Candidates with no such companion--but she resolutely buried it as she headed up to the hearth. She ladled out a bowl of stew from the simmering pot, inhaling the deep aroma of the still-unfamiliar Pernese spices. The food was taking some getting used to, though not so much as one might expect. Her next stop was for a cup of juice. She'd never been much of a coffee drinker back home, and though she could tolerate klah, she still didn't drink it too often. The juice was cool and fresh, though, and more than adequate.
Bowl and cup in hand, she sauntered over to her Serenity and Jenesys. "Hi, Sen," she murmured, nudging the younger girl's shoulder with her uninjured one. "Hello," she projected toward Jenesys. "Would you mind a bit more company?"

"Why do you do that?" he asked with a sigh the Lapis perched on his shoulder continued to nibble on his ear. He wasn't sure why he was so obsessed with his ears. Blinking Lazuli stopped and looked at him a moment before chirping and returning to his nibbling. Spring was just confused and stared at her flying brother a long moment before chirping at him. Pausing in beginning to lick his ear Lazuli turned his attention to Spring and chirped back, soon the two were in an in depth conversation that Jenesys was so not a part of. He looked up at the new voice and smiled as he watched Serenity approach with her own flitters.
"No I don't mind. How are you and your two...mine are..." he said as he looked down at Spring who now seemed to be berating Lazuli who seemed to be yelling right back. "Spring, no! No!" he said as the serpent leapt up at the Lapis. He snatched her right out of the air and held her in front of him as Lapis took too perching on top of his head to get further away from her but not leave Jenesys. "They're a bit of a handful..." he chuckled,
When Amelia approached he nodded to her as Spring began to calm and curled up in his arms, though Lazuli stayed sitting on top of his head watching his sister warily. "Hello...how are you?" he asked nodding lightly to her injured hand.

Anka entered the dining area with her whole pack following along behind her, minus one member. It would have been a nightmare trying to get the stud to walk gently around all the other without hurting someone. Of course, thinking of a nightmare had the Pernese girl grinning. Studs . . . Night'mares'. Huh? Huh?
Grinning from her little joke, Anka paused long enough to look around the area trying to find a seat. Gaol cooed and Anka turned her head to see what had caught lapis's attention. A table of Earth-born Candidates was what had caught her lapis' attention, more so their flits and serpents. "Gaol . . . Sweetie . . . Why don't we go sit over there?" she asked, already moving over to a cleared table, when the lapis' weight came off her shoulder and she turned to watch her lapis flit fluttering over to the table.
Landing in the center of the table, Gaol chittered to each flit and serpent, happy to be around others. Caoir hissed, seemingly wanting to join his flit sister but from his position on Anka's shoulder, he couldn't get to her. "Alright, I'm going, I'm going," she grumbled moving over toward the table of Earth-born. It wasn't that she wanted nothing to do with them, she just didn't want to be the only Pern-born. "I apologize for Gaol . . . She can be a bit demanding," ered arriving at the table and trying to gget to come baheer, but thee lapis was having none of it.

"I'm doing quite well, thank you. I can't remember if we met...before...I'm Serenity's sister, Amelia Alice Miller." She would've offered Jenesys a hand to shake, but his seemed quite full with the charming Pernese creatures. "How long since they hatched?" she queried, studying the apparently-feuding duo. She was itching to have at least one of her own; it was hard to satisfy her overpowering curiosity with simple third-party observation.
She was distracted by the arrival of a third voluble little critter. She didn't recognize the newcomer. None of her clothes the other girl's clothes spoke of Earth origin, and she didn't seem to know either Sen or Jenesys--probably a native then. "Well, from what I hear, that's good practice for if we Impress, right?" she offered Anka with a smile. "I'm Amelia Alice," she said, feeling quite repetitive.

Jenesys smiled warmly at Amelia's greeting, Spring had ceased squirming but the venomous glare she was shooting at Lazuli had him keeping a hold on her nonetheless. Spring could be so sweet...to Jenesys, but for some reason Lazuli unintentionally pushed buttons that simply didn't need to be pushed. He hoped it was a baby thing and that the two would mature and grow out of these antics. "Pleasure to meet you, Amelia," he said before sighing. "Only a month ago and they're worse than cats and dogs fighting sometimes...but I'm hoping it's just a phase."
"Please tell me it's a phase, Spring..." he addressed the sea serpent who blinked at him and crooned softly. She hadn't meant to worry him but Lazuli was just being so annoying. Jenesys's hands loosened slightly and hew as relieved to see Spring curl up in his arms. Seeing his sister calm and curled in their human's arms had Lazuli tentatively climbing off the top of his head back to his shoulder where he returned to nuzzling him. Turning his eyes to Anka he chuckled. "They are fine as are you, I hope you are doing well," he said as he scratched Spring's head, her crooning turning into happy purring. He smiled at Amelia's words. "If Impressing one of the dragons is like this..." he sighed, "my life will be more then a little interesting...I just hope they will get along with Lazuli and Spring.
