Anka of Emerald Wureth
Imp looped down the sandy shore of the beach, while Caoir swam out in the water with Wureth. Kia walked calmly by her side and sweet little Gaol was racing with Imp. Elko stood off by himself, nosing his way around the edge of the beach, looking for little tuffs of salty grass to nibble on. Fingers trailing along Kia's spine, Anka took a deep breath of the salty air and sighed deeply as they walked, slowly, along the beach. She had finished her chores and the runners were in the capable hands of the stable master, so Anka had figured they would take a small trip down to the beach so that Wureth could stretch out her legs, along with her pets.
It hadn't been to long since Wureth had hatched, but she was growing like a weed. Other Emeraldriders had informed Anka that there was a chance that Wureth may become possessive since there were so many pets in Anka's life, and they had been right. As soon as Wureth realized that the canines, the flit, the serpent, and runner weren't going to be dropped from Anka's life, and Anka planned to continue working with the runners in the stables as long as she could, the Emerald had threatened to eat Elko and step on the other pets. Anka had put her foot down and raised her voice, something Wureth wasn't use to, which quieted down the Emerald almost immediately. Since then, Wureth had no choice but to accept the pets in Anka's life and it seemed she was finally getting along with all but Kia and Elko. It seemed both canine and runner knew what the young Emerald had threatened and neither were happy about it.
I said I was sorry, Ankamine . . . Why does the older canine still growl at me? Wureth asked, drawing Anka's attention to her. Anka had stopped walking, which meant so had Kia and her eldest canine was glaring at the Emerald in the water. "Kia," Anka stated, her voice clipped and it stopped the canine. You threatened to step on him and his pup . . . He may only be a canine, but he's intelligent and knows that you don't like him and his offspring, so he's defensive, she sent to her Emerald, who only pouted. Caoir and Gaol forgave me? Yes, well they are still pretty young. Their memory span is still developing, she offered, watching as Emerald looked to Caoir in the water with her, then off to Gaol playing with Imp. Will I forget what I said? the young Emerald asked, causing Anka to tilt her head to the side.
"Wureth . . . Dragon's memories aren't great. They can remember some things, but not everything. So there is a chance that you may forget what you said, and there is a chance that you won't," she stated, sitting down on the sand. Kia took up a position beside her but looked out over the sand, watching Imp run. Elko had moved off behind her, but wasn't coming out onto the sand. "Just let it go, my sweet. Enjoy the day," she offered, leaning back and stretched out on the sand.
