Name: Kinna Lyreida
Age: 13
Turnday:
Gender: female
Rank: future Candidate, apprentice healer
Appearance: Kinna's main feature is her bright blue eyes that seem to sparkle. Her hair is black, and it falls just past her shoulders. Previously, it was much longer, but since becoming an apprentice Healer, she got it cut so she could keep her hair out of her way easier. She keeps her hair tied back when she's working, but she honestly prefers to keep her hair down, where it falls in a straight curtain. She is small for her age, but with her average-sized siblings, she believes that she still has room to grow. She is of slender build, and she uses that to her advantage when she hides in small places to watch the goings-on of the Weyr.
Personality: Extremely shy, she rarely ever speaks. When she does, it is usually to someone who she knows well. She doesn't even feel the need to speak to Sky, due to the bond they have. When her father asked her what she wanted to become, she decided on Healer for two reasons. She knew, as a young healer at least, that she wouldn't have to talk much. The other reason? She could try as hard as she could at doing her best without worrying about overshadowing her older siblings.
Occasionally, she'll be able to hang out in the same area as someone she's close to, but she still is unlikely to speak. Just being around a person is a statement to how comfortable she is around him or her. She tends to prefer the company of her pets only, and she is rarely seen without at least one of them clinging to her.
History: Born the youngest child of the Lyreida family of Emerald Plains, Kinna actually had a twin brother named Nakin. Nakin, though born first, had a weak body, and died just before their fifth Turnday. It was around this time that Kinna stopped speaking. She didn't have a reason, for young children rarely do. However, Nakin was the only sibling of hers that she had been close to.
Kinna and Nakin were four when the youngest Lyreida child was born, but Kinna was not close to her younger sibling either.
Kinna did not have a close relationship with her older siblings, and that relationship deteriorated even further with Nakin's passing. She watched her older brothers and sisters branch and start going to study under Craft Masters, but she could never say anything to them. She did like exploring their home, though. Especially when Father was busy with work. Kinna wasn't one to get in trouble, so Father and Mother never worried about her when she wandered around home. She had just turned eight when she happened upon a small Flit Clutch in the kitchen. The last egg to Hatch, a lovely blue-toned Quartz, Impressed to the shy little girl. This was one of the only times she interrupted Father while he was working, and it was a surprise for both Father and Mother.
Two Turns after she Impressed to Sky, it was Kinna's turn to chose her Craft. She had been trying to decide for the last Turn before, and on her tenth Turnday, it was finally time. She decided to be a Healer because she could be helpful without having to speak to everyone, and she would not have to worry about outshining her older siblings. Especially her oldest brother Naquen.
Just recently, she heard rumors about the Clutch that had gone missing from one of the Weyrs, that it had resurfaced only to Hatch for a bunch of off-world Candidates. When she heard about the disaster that had happened between the Diamond King and the Black Pearl Queen, she realized that she wanted to go to this newly developing Weyr with the others that had been selected from Emerald Plains Hold. Her request was approved, and she made her way to Sea Cliffs Weyr with the other Healers. She started studying under a woman named Joana, but her height became a disadvantage. However, she keeps her hopes up that she will grow taller.
The possibility of Candidacy was tossed around a time or two, but with her shyness, Kinna does not believe that she will make a good Dragon Rider, let alone that a dragon would choose her. She keeps her focus on her Craft.
Pets:
Name: Sky
Color: Blue-toned Quartz(f)
Age: 5 Turns
Basics: Sky is a blue-toned Quartz flit, on the small side. She has an unusually forward personality for a Quartz, and can often be seen flying near where Kinna is trying to hide.
Name: Azure
Species: Faerie
Color: Blue with purple sheen
Age: Hatchling
Basics: Azure is on the small side, having been written off as dead by his siblings and the other people in the room. Kinna saved him by rubbing his chest until his lungs began to work on their own. His fur is blue with a purple sheen to it.
For Candidates:
What Color Would They Prefer to Impress? She doesn't think she will Impress
Why? She's so shy she doesn't know why a dragon would want her. Even if she does have a Flit.
What Color Would YOU Prefer They Impress? low or mid-ranked
Why? I think a mid-ranked color would help her overcome her shyness, at least a little bit, without shoving her into the spotlight. Low ranked would keep her out of the spotlight completely, but there might be some issues with the whole Flight thing...
Mauling Allowed? Sure, but not too much.
